This blog is now officially closed.

I haven't posted anything new to this photoblog for months, and now I declare it officially closed. I am dissatisfied with Fotopages. I am annoyed with how they clutter the page with ads, some of them flashing -- the worst offenders, in my opinion. I don't want to make people look at those eyesores. There are so many better photo hosting services out there, with cleaner navigation interfaces, better functionality, and most importantly, without ads.

For example, Flickr. I have moved most of my photos to my Flickr account. Any new pictures will be posted there, and not to Fotopages. My Flickr URL is this:

http://flickr.com/photos/elzes

For those interested only in Erika's pictures, here is the URL for Erika's pictures (her new pictures will be posted here too):

Also, I have a separate blog for Erika's videos. I often take short movies of her doing various ordinary but amusing things. The video blog is here:

Erika meets a cat

1. Erika head-butts the cat.
2. The cat still has ears. For how long, I wonder.
3. Cat lightly nips Erika, as a warning.

16 months 25 days: Erika meets a cat

1. If the cat didn't know where its nose was, it does now.
2. Erika chases the cat, who's not trying very hard to get away.
2. Erika chases the cat, who's not trying very hard to get away.
Taking walks with Erika around the apartment complex, we often meet dogs and cats. Seeing an animal, Erika emits a shriek of joy and goes chasing after it. Most of those animals keep their distance, but once in a while we come across a friendly cat, who does not shy away from an overly enthusiastic toddler.

The cat did not particularly welcome Erika's advances, nor did it really try to get away. It made a superficial effort to avoid Erika, but still allowed her to poke at it. I thought if the cat really didn't like that, it would have gotten away. But it could be that much as it disliked Erika's poking, the cat refused to get away in principle, thinking, I'll be damned if I give up my favorite spot because of you bastards!

I meant to keep Erika from annoying the cat too much, but it still got to the point when after one too many pokes the cat nipped Erika lightly on the hand. It was just a friendly warning. There were no scratches on Erika's hand. But we definitely left the cat alone after that.

1. Erika likes to point at people's noses, or anybody's nose, for that matter. Not necessarily human. If an owner of a nose comes within arm's length of Erika, he, she or it risks having their nose pointed out to them. The same thing happened to the cat.

A 5-second video of it can be found here:

3. Neither Steve nor I know what this thing is called
1. Steve's boss' wife Mayra with daughter Audrey at Audrey's first birthday at Radijazz Playnasium. A lone candle burns on the cake, soon to be blown out.

2. Steve's boss Chris and his wife Mayra open presents.

3. Steve blows into a party favor that unrolls when you blow into it. He could not, for the life of him, remember what those things are called. As for me, I can be excused for not knowing American-kids-birthday-party terminology. At the time and place where I grew up, we did not have these unrolling thingies. And even if we had them, we would not have referred to them in English.
